  • Liverpool Football Club was founded in 1882 and plays in the Premier League. They have won 28 major honors since then, including the league title in the 2014–15 season, and the FA Cup and FA Community Shield in the last two seasons. This season they will face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League final on 19 May 2015.

  • The club's most successful years came under the stewardship of Bill Shankly, who coached the side to the 1960 and 1961 League and FA Cup wins. Shankly retired in 1975 and was succeeded by Joe Fusari as manager, and the man who first played for the club under Shankly, Bob Paisley.

The 2014–15 season was the most successful in the club's history, with Liverpool returning to the Champions League for the first time since 2012. Under Paisley's leadership, they progressed through to the semi-finals, only to be beaten by eventual winners Barcelona. The return of the Champions League was celebrated with a victory lap in which the entire squad paraded around the ground, Liverpool's first such lap since May 2013. They also won the League Cup for the second time, beating Cardiff City 2–0.

The club enjoyed a golden age under Shankly, who died in 2012 at the age of 84. He led the club to their first-ever European Cup final in 1967, and their first league title in 44 years in the 1968–69 season. A year later, Fusari led the club to victory in the European Cup final again.

Joe Fusari was appointed manager in 1976. In his first season back in charge, he guided the club to a runners-up spot in the league before taking them into the European Cup. He won his first trophy in September 1977 when he lifted the Football League Cup with a 3-1 win against Manchester United. His second success came five months later, as Liverpool won the European Cup.

Fusari led the football club to its first European Cup victory in 39 years in the European Cup final in 1978. They won 4–0 against A.C. Milan, with the star players Roger Benham, Ian Rush, and Kenny Dalglish all scoring before half-time. The victory meant that Liverpool could claim to be the first British team to achieve back-to-back European Cup triumphs.
